10 Aug An Evening with Sri M – August 11 2018

That which the senses cannot perceive, which even the mind cannot grasp, understand O disciple to be the “Truth.”
Once, [my guru] said to me, ‘if you sit in a cave and meditate daily for 25 years for 12 hours a day, and once you come out of the cave and if you do not regard the cry of a hungry child from a nearby hut with compassion, then your entire meditation is a sheer waste. It’s a big zero.
Sri M is a Tantric master from Madanapale, Andhra Pradesh, India. According to his autobiography, Apprenticed to a Himalayan Master: A Yogi’s Autobiography, what he really wanted to do with his life was to wander the Himalayas with his own master, doing the interior work of Tantra and meditation and sleeping in caves, away from the world of the common man. But his master, Maheshwarnath Babaji, instructed him rather to return to the world of men, study the religions of the world, have a family, build a life and make himself ready to teach. This he did, and at a certain signal from his master, he began to teach. For the last several years he has been traveling the world (and the length of India on his 7000 kilometer Walk of Hope) speaking to the deepest truths of the Vedas, and asking people the world over to embrace religious tolerance and the principle of gender equality.
What Sri M suggests always, in his teaching and in his life, is the need to align one’s spiritual practice with one’s behavior in the world. As in the quote above, to contact the divine within and not use that connection in service to the world is worth nothing.
We are blessed to offer An Evening with Sri M next Tuesday, August 14th at 7:00 pm at the Victory Theatre in Burbank. There will be a nominal fee of $20, which will be split between the theatre and Sri M’s charitable organization, the Blossom Foundation.
