Live, Love, Give of Ourselves – September 9 2020

It is wonderful how much time good people spend fighting the devil. If they would only expend the same amount of energy loving their fellow men, the devil would die in his own tracks of ennui.

Helen Keller

Things do not change; we change.

Henry David Thoreau

It is our job to live, to love, to give of ourselves. This is why we are here. When we actually try it, just arbitrarily, and without thought of return, we find it is the most natural thing to do, and that it actually feels far better than when we’re trying to squeeze happiness for ourselves out of someone or some situation.

But it doesn’t just happen. It is a choice. It’s a choice we must make for ourselves, again and again.

And there is no thing that is going to happen that makes it ‘safe’ for us to make this choice; no message from God that is going to arrive to tell us we are full and it’s now time to give of ourselves in the world. We have to choose.

The time is now. The decision is ours.

Live, love, give of ourselves. Completely. Then meditate (which is where we find our own fulfillment) and do it all again. It’s amazing how much fun this can be.

Today I will give of myself. Simply because I can.
