There is a Universal Wholeness seeking expression through everything. We are calling it simply Life. The religionist calls it God. The philosopher calls it Reality. Life is infinite energy coupled with limitless creative imagination.
We seek a ‘spiritual experience’ because each of us feels the truth within that there is something longing to come through us; that there is an infinite energy that wishes to express through us, to create through us. We are drawn to the spiritual in life not because we are hoping to be something better than what we are, but rather because we want to be exactly what we are in that deepest part of ourselves.
[Life] is the invisible essence and substance of every visible form. Its nature is goodness, truth, wisdom and beauty, as well as energy and imagination. Our highest satisfaction comes from a sense of conscious union with this invisible Life.
All quotes from Ernest Holmes,
This Thing Called You
When we meditate we contact this place within. We transcend what we think we are and settle down to this place of essence, like a wave settling down to feel its ocean-ness, and we begin to feel the truth of what we are. We begin to trust what wants to be expressed through us because we sense that this place within is good, true, wise, and beautiful. We begin to trust that whatever comes from this deepest place of Self will be better than any idea that ‘I’ may have as to how things should be going.
And as I put this to the test in my life – finding my true foundation then offering myself to the world without trying to control the outcome – I will find my place in the world, and all the support I may need to be the best of myself.
